Is really life what you make of it?

You may have heard that statement. But is it really true? You may have heard something like: “Your present life is the result of all the choices you have made up until this moment. You are the only one responsible for where you are right now, for how your life looks, for how you are being treated by those around you and for the level of happiness or unhappiness present in your life. You and only you”.
And then you may have thought that that statement is from someone who has just achieved something of his own and now wants to brag about it and you dismiss the whole idea as pretentious and stupid, letting it pass... But what if that statement really annoys you? It’s provoking and it moves something inside of you…
We all have very different desires, dreams, projects, ideas, starting points, different talents, genetics and environments we grew in. No one said that we all should do the same things with our lives or that success is one thing and one thing only. No one even claims that the world is fair.
The essential thing is to understand that it is us who defines, what is our own liking. We ourselves decide what we want to make out of our lives. And then we either work on it, or not. If you want to change the quality of your life, if you want to change the quality of the relationships you have, you have to start by taking responsibility for that.
If you keep on doing the same things over and over again, you will get the same results. Your life will change the moment you decide it is time to change. It all starts with a thought, an idea and based on the intentions and the actions you take that will lead you in a different and new direction.
Your world is your consciousness objectified. Waste no time trying to change the outside; change the within, the way you see yourself and the way you see the world. Even though it may seem hard at first, in time things will get better and better. Sometimes we will need someone else that can help us to start seeing ourselves in a new light and to start thinking differently. The effort is worthy, since you are worthy.
